
Gary Walters
Gary Walters is a pianist, composer, and educator with a lifelong career in jazz performance and music education. He earned a bachelor’s degree in percussion with a minor in classical piano from Ball State University before pursuing a diverse career as a performer, recording artist, and recording studio co owner. He later taught jazz piano, ensembles, theory, and history at Butler University, DePauw University, and Indiana Purdue University, ultimately serving as an adjunct professor of Applied Jazz Piano at Butler University until his retirement in 2019. He also earned a master’s degree in composition from Butler University, where he studied with Dr. Michael Schelle. Today, Gary continues to devote his time to practicing, performing, and composing.
