Feathers of Grief and Joy
With Trebbe Johnson
October 9 - 11, 2026
In the midst of the deepest sorrow, we can suddenly be pierced by wild beauty and even joy. And in the best times of life, we are often aware of undercurrents of pain and sadness. We become braver, more creative, more authentic humans when we recognize that sorrow and joy co-exist like two feathers, one held in the palm of each hand. Welcoming them both, our hearts can open and respond to the other. In this workshop we will confront and move through our personal grief, while celebrating the beauty and wonder that constantly want to be known to us. We’ll also enact a ceremony to honor what we’re losing on Earth with the advance of climate change. We will realize that, even in grief, we are capable of small, yet profound actions that affirm the indestructible starlight of the true self.
“Trebbe is a master at beautifully expressing the very depths of the wisdom that she dives deep, over and over, to access. There is a fierce vulnerability and a tender empathy that awaken us to both the shadow and the magic of this world we live in. She helps us to find a footing in our world as it is changing.”
—Meredith Little Foster, co-founder School of Lost Borders, author of The School of Lost Borders: A Love Story
